NEW HAND-DYED YARNS
After some time off over Summer Marta has been back to her dye-house to create a wonderful new hand-dyed yarn collection for Winter 2006. Fresh from the dye-pots, the collection includes some lovely new colours in our ever popular Slubby and Flowers yarns, lots of new mohair and the lovely 10 ply silk and some amazing colours in our 8ply merino yarn.
Marta has also been dyeing more of the new Fine slubby and a new rainbow collection in the 8 ply Metro yarn (see Rainbow Rug below).
Fans of our Pearl yarn will be pleased to know that Marta found one last box of this yarn in her dye-house and has just dyed it in a stunning range of colours. This 50%wool/ 50% viscose yarn knits up beautifully on 6mm needles and up.

NEW DESIGNS RAINBOW RUG AND CARDIGAN
Metro Rainbow Rug
Marta and her daughter Patricia got their heads together recently to design the beautiful Metro Rainbow Rug from our new 8ply pure wool rainbow yarn collection.
The rug is perfect for cold winter nights in front of the television and will brighten up any room. The design uses complementary colours to create this wonderful effect and uses two strands of the 8ply wool and 7mm needles so it won’t take all of winter to knit.
The yarn kit for this lovely rug includes a 50gm ball of each of the 24 rainbow colours and the pattern with a colour wheel. Depending on your knitting tension you should have enough yarn left over to make either a matching cushion or scarf. The kit is available for purchase from our stores and online. NB: Finished rug size: 92 x 144 cm.
Rainbow Cardigan
Some of you may already have met our new staff member Angie. She comes to us with extensive experience in hand-knitting, machine knitting, felting and is a great designer too. She is working in both our stores.
Here is a photo of one of the designs she has just finished using two of our Mohair Rainbow Kits. The pattern and yarn are available from our stores. The pattern can also be made with 3 balls of our Mist or Moss mohair yarns for a toasty warm, light-weight garment.

NEW BOOKS
We have just received a great new selection of books full of great knitting, crochet and felting projects.
Many of our customers bought the fabulous Scarf Style book last Winter. As a follow up, the team at Interweave Press has just released “Wrap Style” with many contemporary knitting and crochet designs focusing on wraps and ponchos. We have already started knitting several projects from this book with our yarns using everything from our 2 ply merino to the 12ply Retro wool.
Prudence Mapstone also has a great new book out on freeform Hand Bag design “Never to many Handbags”. For those of you into crochet, Reader’s Digest has put out a great book called “Essential Crochet” with 30 great crochet projects.
These books will also be available through our shopping cart on our website.

STOCKTAKE SALE
It is that time of year again. We are having a sale on a selection of our yarns to reduce stock before the end of the financial year.
We are taking 50% off a selection of commercial yarns including our Naturally 14 ply pure wool, Miraggio, Mink, Cameleon, Apache, Explosion and Feathers. We have also taken 30% off a wide selection of our ON-LINE yarns.

MARTA’S YARNS EXCLUSIVE COLLECTION
We will be adding a new section to our online shopping cart in the coming weeks with some exquisite luxury yarns including our angora and silk yarns. These yarns will launch the “Marta’s Yarns Exclusive Collection”, which will only be available for purchase from the online shopping cart on our website.
Online orders can be paid via credit card, money order/cheque or direct debit. Please note that customers wishing to pick up their online purchases from our East Malvern store can do so by making a note in the comments section of their order.

WINTER OPENING HOURS
We have decided to have a day of rest this Winter and will not be opening our stores on Sundays. Further, after careful consideration we have also decided to close our city store on Saturdays. East Malvern will remain open on Saturdays for those of you who can’t make it to our stores during the week. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to our customers.
Our hours are as follows until the end of August:

10am to 5pm Monday to Friday
10am to 4pm Saturday
CBD Store
10am to 6pm Monday to Friday
