Marta's Hand-dyed collection is a unique range of natural fibre yarns carefully selected and dyed to create an artist’s palette for knitters and textile artists. The collection contains a large variety of wool, mohair, alpaca and silk blends in a number of different weights.

Marta's Yarns also stocks a large range of OnLine and Adriafil commercial yarns.

Slubby

This 100% pure wool yarn is Marta’s signature yarn. The thick and thin texture gives a sensual, organic effect.  It is perfect for Marta’s arm knitting technique (see our patterns and garments section) which has seen many of our customers knit a scarf in a little under half an hour and often before they leave the shop! It also knits up beautifully with 12mm needles and bigger for a quick weekend sweater project.

Flowers Yarn

A fabulous chunky 96% wool yarn is a very popular recent addition to Marta’s Yarns Hand-dyed collection. Bunches of three loops spaced irregular on the core yarn, 9 to 20mm needles can be use, depending on the effect wanted.  Flowers can be used for arm knitting or knitting with bigger needles and it comes in a lovely range of multi- and solid colours. This yarn, as well as our Slubby yarn, is also used extensively as a felting embellishment.

2ply merino

This fine merino Australian yarn is a superb yarn to create pointillism effects in knitting, combining 2 or 3 strands of opposite or complementary colors can create most unusual, vivid and unique effect. We use it also single stranded but with large knitting needles (4mm to 5mm) to create lacey effects.

This yarn comes in a multi-coloured range and a solid colour range of 360 colors evenly spaced around the color spectrum. This yarn is great for Intarsia, Fair Isles and graduations of color and several strands of different colors can be use to create a new optical blended color.

8ply Looped Mohair Solid Colour “The Rainbow collection”

24 colors evenly spaced around the color wheel. By knitting the same number of rows with each color, a beautiful rainbow can be knitted, into a scarf, shawl or blanket.

4ply Brushed mohair-Silk solid-color, this yarn is great for very light but warm garments, shawls, wraps, scarves and also to blend with other yarns for texture.
